Social Action

The Village Temple membership and leadership believe that social action is central to our faith.

The Village Temple membership and leadership believe that social action is central to being Jewish.

The Social Action Committee focuses on the ongoing work of tikkun olam, working towards creating a more whole, just, and compassionate world.

Our areas of focus and action include, but are not limited to, Racial Justice, Earth Justice, Immigration, and Human Rights.

The committee meets regularly to discuss, share information about upcoming events, and plan participation in actions, activities and campaigns such as: Get Out The Vote postcard writing  (RAC), the Welcome Campaign (HIAS), an annual Park Cleanup, and a Dayenu Circle (Dayenu). In 2020, the committee started small study groups to reflect upon “other-ness” and systemic issues in society. In the new year 5782, the committee plans to launch a speaker series highlighting topics such as antisemitism and issues affecting LGBTQ+ youth.

Though the issues are serious, VT SAC members develop friendships, look out for one another and have fun! If you are interested in learning more and getting involved in its work, please join us!
